Partha Basu

Partha is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Indiana University Indianapolis, USA. He earned his Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, India, and received the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Young Scientist Award. After postdoctoral training at the University of Arizona, he started his independent career at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he advanced to the rank of Professor and held the Henry Koren Endowed Chair in Scholarship.

His research centers on the role of metals in biological systems, especially molybdenum enzymes involved in nitrogen, arsenic, and sulfur metabolism, and their links to human health and the environment. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Partha has published over 125 papers and holds several patents. He is an active member of multiple professional societies, has mentored more than 100 students from diverse backgrounds, and currently serves as Chair of the American Chemical Society’s Committee on Chemists with Disabilities (CWD).
