Pablo Cavagnaro obtained his PhD in Plant Biology from the National University of Cuyo, Argentina, and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin, USA, working on the development of molecular and genomic tools for carrot breeding and research. He then became a research group leader at the Argentine National Agricultural Technology Institute (INTA) and principal researcher at the National Scientific and Technical
Research Council (CONICET). His group research aims at elucidating the genetic basis of traits of agricultural importance in various crop species, with emphasis on carrot and other vegetables. Currently, he is a professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture, University of Agriculture in Krakow, Poland, and the principal investigator of a POLONEZ BIS-II project focusing on the genetic control of carrot vernalization and flowering time.
