Natalia Bednarz-Knoll

Dr. Natalia Bednarz-Knoll is a group leader at the Laboratory of Translational Oncology, Medical University of Gdańsk, Poland. She graduated from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, and gained international research experience through postdoctoral training at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and research fellowships at several leading European institutions, including the University of Perugia, the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), and INSERM Montpellier. Dr. Bednarz-Knoll has authored nearly 40 scientific publications and has served as principal investigator on several research grants.
Her research focuses on biomarkers, tumor progression, metastatic dissemination, and liquid biopsy, with a particular interest in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and their role in cancer progression. Her team has implemented imaging flow cytometry for liquid biopsy applications and develops innovative approaches for CTC characterization and biomarker discovery. She is the founder and leader of CTC Atlas (www.CTCAtlas.org), the first open-access platform cataloguing CTC diversity and linking CTC presence with matched multi-omic data.
