Fusiomica

Michał Biśta, PhD is the co-founder and CEO of Fusiomica, an AI-first biotechnology startup developing de novo protein binders for molecular imaging and next-generation therapeutics.

A structural biologist and drug discovery scientist, he trained at the Jagiellonian University and the Max Planck Institute in the laboratory of Prof. Tad Holak, followed by postdoctoral research at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge with Sir Alan Fersht. He later joined AstraZeneca Discovery Sciences, where he contributed to several drug discovery programs, including AZD5305 (saruparib), a selective PARP1 inhibitor currently in Phase III clinical trials. Before founding Fusiomica, he served as Vice President of Structure & Biophysics at Captor Therapeutics.

His scientific work has resulted in 24 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Nature Methods, Nature Communications, PNAS, JACS and Angewandte Chemie.

At Fusiomica, he combines generative AI with experimental protein engineering to build a new model of biotech innovation, demonstrating how small, highly focused teams can rapidly translate computational protein design into therapeutic applications.
