Marcin Majka

Professor Marcin Majka completed his undergraduate studies at Adam Mickiewicz University's Faculty of Biology. He obtained his doctorate from the Pomeranian Medical University in 2000. He conducted research on stem cells at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Louisville in the United States from 1997 to 2003. Following his return to Poland, he was involved in both basic and clinical research, which included the REGENT and CIRCULATE studies. He currently works as a professor in the Department of Transplantation at Jagiellonian University. Research interests include stem cell biology and its clinical uses, the role of transcription factors in carcinogenesis, and the application of iPS cells to diseases of the central nervous system. Prof. Majka has contributed to journals including Leukemia, J Clin Invest, and Blood. He has won many awards, including one for his habilitation thesis from the Prime Minister. Among the projects he has worked on are national ones (KBN, MNiSW, NCN) and international ones (NIH, EU). In addition, he co-founded companies like Melanos Care and Vet Cell Tech.
