Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Silesia
Agata Daszkowska-Golec - group leader and Vice-Dean for Science Promotion and Internationalization at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Silesia in Katowice. Graduated in biology from the University of Silesia, where she also received her doctoral and habilitation degrees in plant genetics. She further developed her expertise during fellowships and research visits in France, Germany, Scotland, and the United States, including a Fulbright Fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
Interested in molecular mechanisms of plant responses to climate change, with particular emphasis on the regulation of abiotic stress tolerance and RNA processing. Her major contributions over the last decade include the identification of key genetic regulators shaping stress adaptation in barley, using functional and translational genomics combined with multi-omics approaches.
Recipient of multiple awards and scientific projects (EU Horizon 2020, and National Science Centre), including a fellowship for outstanding young researchers from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Fulbright STEM Impact Award Scholarship. She is an active in Fulbright alumni society, member of PlantACT! and scientific societies including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society of Experimental Biology, Polish Society of Experimental Plant Biology. For two consecutive years, she has been listed in the Top 2% World Scientists ranking published by Stanford University.
