Kazimierz Strzałka, Professor Dr hab.

Kazimierz Strzałka is a professor of biochemistry, specializing in problems related to the functioning of the photosynthetic apparatus with particular emphasis on the electron transport chain, regulation of molecular dynamics of model and natural membranes, as well as mechanisms of plant resistance to abiotic stresses. 

Kazimierz Strzałka did his doctoral work and habilitation at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He carried out his research in leading academic and scientific centers of many countries, including Germany, Japan, the United States, Canada and many others.  He also held important administrative positions at his university. He was director of the Institute of Molecular Biology, dean of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, and director of the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology, which he organized from scratch. Professor Strzałka is a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and a foreign member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences.  Professor Strzałka is also one of the founders of the Eurobiotech Congresses, which he has chaired several times.
