Martin Mistrik, Ph.D. is the head of the Genome Integrity Laboratory at the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine (IMTM), Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacký University in Olomouc. He is an internationally recognized expert in the molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis and cellular stress response pathways.
Dr. Mistrik obtained his Ph.D. in 2009 and has since established himself as a leading scientist in the field, with an H-index of 30, over 50 peer-reviewed publications, more than 4,500 citations (Web of Science), and four international patents. He leads a research team comprising five postdoctoral researchers and four technicians, and actively supervises Ph.D. students.
He has served as principal investigator (PI) or co-investigator (co-PI) on several national and international research grants, including those funded by GAČR, TAČR, and MPO. In addition to his research leadership, Dr. Mistrik heads the Palacký University Bioimaging Core Facility, a key node of the Czech-Bioimaging national infrastructure, where he specializes in advanced microscopy techniques such as super-resolution microscopy, live-cell imaging, laser microirradiation, and micromanipulation.
Dr. Mistrik completed a prestigious three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Danish Institute of Cancer Biology (Danish Cancer Society, Copenhagen), where he worked in the Center for Genotoxic Stress Research under the mentorship of Professor Jiří Bartek, a globally respected authority in cancer biology and DNA damage response.
His scientific contributions include publications in high-impact journals such as Nature, Cell, and Nature Communications. He is also actively engaged in teaching at the Faculty of Science, Palacký University, where he serves as the course guarantor for "Human and Animal Biotechnologies" and "Microscopy and Image Analysis" seminars.
