Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) Session
Title of the session:
IMI – New opportunities for drug research in Europe
Wednesday 12 October, 14:00-17:00
Location: Nowa Huta Cultural Centre (NCK)
The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) is revolutionising the way pharmaceutical research in Europe is performed by offering a new and unique model for public-private collaboration. IMI projects therefore offer researchers the chance to work closely with the best scientists in industry, academia and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Participants in this special IMI session will learn how IMI works and hear about the many benefits of project participation. The session will also feature a spotlight on the benefits and opportunities offered by IMI to researchers in Poland and elsewhere.
Preliminary agenda:
• Introducing IMI
• IMI: Achievements and opportunities
• IMI projects in practice – testimonials from IMI project participants from central Europe
• IMI: Opportunities for Poland
The event will close with a networking cocktail. In addition, IMI participants are welcome to attend the plenary lecture of the IV Polish Congress of Biotechnology, which will be given by Nobel laureate Professor Ada Yonath of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot Israel. Professor Yonath will talk about ‘the amazing ribosome’.
